Inside your onX Hunt Chip package, you'll find the chip itself and a larger SD adapter for installing the onX Hunt Chip in your computer. For these instructions, you'll need either the adapter or a compatible Garmin GPS unit and a USB cable to connect to your computer. Each Garmin GPS unit comes with a USB cable for connecting to your computer.
Garmin's free BaseCamp software is required to use the onX Hunt Chip with your computer. Click here to download Garmin BaseCamp.
Using the SD adapter:
- Slide the onX Hunt Chip into the slot in the SD adapter. Make sure the brass contacts on the SD adapter and the onX Hunt Chip are facing the same direction.
- Move the slider on the SD adapter to the "unlock" position.
- Insert the SD adapter with the chip inside into the SD slot on your computer. You should feel it lock into place.

Using a USB cable:
- Install the onX Hunt Chip into your GPS device. Click here to learn how to install the onX Hunt Chip in your Garmin GPS.
- Connect the small end of the USB cable to your GPS device and the large end to your computer.
