Adding and Editing Trail Cameras

The Trail Cameras feature in onX Hunt lets you place camera locations on your map, track which direction each camera faces, log battery and SD card changes, and upload photos—all in the same place where you do the rest of your scouting.

How to add a Trail Camera

1. Tap or click the Trail Cameras or Insights button and select Add Trail Camera from the Cameras tab.

   

2. Fill in the details to help you identify the camera later. Fields marked with a red star (*) are required. The color selection changes the color of the pin on your map. When you're done, tap or click Next.
3. Choose the camera's status:
   • Not in Field — tap or click Save to save the camera without placing it on the map yet.
   • In Field — tap or click the location on your map where the camera is set up. Optionally add a location name and the direction the camera is facing, then tap or click Save.

How to view, move, and manage Trail Cameras

Tap or click the Trail Cameras or Insights button, then tap or click the camera you want to view or manage.

From the camera's info card you can:

• Photos — view photos you've uploaded to this camera.
• Move — change the camera pin's location on your map.
• Store — mark the camera as out of the field without removing it from your account.
• Archive — remove the camera entirely.
• Update — log the date you changed the batteries or SD card.
• History — review a log of changes made to this camera.
• Edit (pencil icon) — update the camera's nickname, brand, model, type, details, or pin color. Available on the Web Map. Click Save when done.

How to upload photos to a Trail Camera

Photo uploads are done from the onX Hunt Web Map on your computer.

1. Click the Trail Cameras or Insights button and click the camera you want to upload photos to.

2. Click Upload and select the files from your computer.

   

3. After uploading, click the Photos tab to view them.
