The Route Builder
is available from the Tools menu in the onX
Hunt
App or Web Map, and allows you to plan your path into an area and eliminate
guesswork on the way into the field.
Elite onX Hunt Membership required.
Choose “Snap To” and drop at least two points to let onX Hunt do the work for you, or switch to “Point Draw” if you prefer to create your path of travel manually. Routes are saved to the My Content menu.
Building Routes
To build a Route, open the Tools menu and click Build a Route.
With Snap To selected, drop two or more points and watch the line "snap" to the underlying road/trail.
-
Tap Undo [
] to remove the last dropped point.
- Tap Save to save the Route to the My Content menu.
Switch to Point Draw if you encounter issues with lines "snapping" to a road or trail due to a gap in the routing graph.
If this does occur:
- Switch to Point Draw.
- Drop a few points to clear the problem area.
- Switch back to Snap To.
- Repeat as necessary until the gap is cleared.
Following Routes
Once your Route is built and saved, tap on the location button in the Hunt App to follow it.
- One tap centers the App on your current location and follows you as you move.
- A second tap shows a directional indicator and the map rotates with you as you move.
- Tap the Compass indicator to rotate back to a North-Up orientation.
Use the blue location dot and directional indicator to make sure you're staying on course.
