Map Layers add valuable information on top of your Basemap—including public and private land ownership, hunting units, trails, and more. Premium and Premium+ Members can view one or two state-specific layer collections and all general layers except Slope Angle and Slope Aspect. Elite Members have access to all Map Layers.
How to use Map Layers
Tap or click the Map Layers button to open the Map Layers menu.
Tap or click the toggle buttons to turn Government Land, Private Land, or Possible Access layers on or off.
Swipe up to scroll through all available layer collections and tap one to see which layers are active. Tap Details to view more information about any layer.
Elite Members can turn on additional states by scrolling down and tapping the related toggle buttons. State-specific layer collections appear beneath the Government Land, Private Land, and Possible Access layers once enabled.
Sublayers
Some Map Layers have a sublayer icon indicating additional options are available. Sublayers let you view more specific boundaries within a layer—for example, species-specific hunting units for your state.
Tap or click a layer with a View options subtitle to scroll through its sublayers, then use the toggle to select one.
Access Note—It’s up to the hunter to know where you stand, but onX Hunt can help.
We aim to provide you with key information for planning your hunt, as well as guidance on how to use that information to find areas to hunt. Keep in mind that government-owned properties aren't always publicly accessible and may be subject to special restrictions, so it’s best to check with the managing agency and always obey posted signage.
Roads displayed on the map may include state, county, and private roads and do not connote public access. Tap on the property to find the managing agency (e.g. Bureau of Land Management, National Forest, etc) that can answer your access questions. Click here to learn how to use onX Hunt to find public and private hunting land.
