If you want to switch between Satellite, Topo, and Hybrid map views, enable LiDAR topography, or view terrain in 3D while planning a hunt or scouting a new area, you can do so from the Basemaps menu in the onX Hunt App.
How to change your Basemap
Tap the Basemaps button in the lower-right corner of the map screen, then select your preferred Basemap.
- Satellite: aerial imagery, typically one to four years old on average.
- Hybrid: satellite imagery with contour lines overlaid.
- Topo: topographic map at 1:24k scale (1:25k for Alaska).
To view high-definition topography captured via LiDAR, select the Topo Basemap and tap the LiDAR toggle to turn it on.
Leaf-Off and Recent Imagery
Leaf-Off and Recent Imagery are available for Elite Members. Learn more about Leaf-Off and Recent Imagery.
3D mode
3D mode lets you view a three-dimensional perspective of any area, which can be useful for visualizing terrain features like ridgelines, drainages, and elevation changes during your planning process.
Tap the Basemaps button in the lower-right corner, then tap 3D Map.
To adjust the viewing angle, place two fingers on the screen and move them up or down simultaneously.
Elevation Exaggeration
Elevation Exaggeration amplifies subtle terrain features to help you identify bedding areas, water sources, and feeding zones more easily.
To enable it, go to Settings and turn on Show Terrain Exaggeration Control in 3D. Then turn on 3D mode, tap Elev. +, and drag the slider up or down.
Tip: On the onX Hunt Web Map, open the Basemaps menu, enter 3D mode, and drag the slider left or right to adjust elevation exaggeration.
