This article explains how to use onX Hunt, including where to find key features like Map Layers, Offline Maps, the Tracker, Trail Cameras, and the Search tool. Use it as a reference for navigating the map screen and understanding what each button and toolbar item does.
Key features overview
Most of the tools you'll use live in the bottom toolbar. Additional controls are found along the top and right side of the screen.
Main Menu: Change in-app settings, view your account info and Membership details, edit your profile and login credentials, access the Help Center, or contact support. Elite Members can also access Elite Pro-Deals with special pricing for onX industry partners.
Search: Find addresses, GPS coordinates, and points of interest using the Location tab, or search for a private land parcel by landowner name and acreage using the Private Land tab. Learn more about using Search.
Weather: View current wind and weather conditions wherever your map is centered. Requires cell service — check conditions before heading out of range. Learn more about Wind & Weather.
Map Layers: Overlay your map with private land, government land, hunting and game management unit boundaries, and more. Premium and Premium+ Members have access to general layer collections and layers for one or two states respectively. Elite Members have access to all Map Layers. Learn more about using Map Layers.
Basemaps & 3D: Switch between 2D and 3D maps showing aerial imagery, topographic maps, or a hybrid of the two. Elite Members also have access to Leaf-Off and Recent imagery sets. Learn more about Basemaps.
Location: Tap once to center the map on your current location in a north-up orientation. Tap again to enter a fixed-heading orientation with a directional indicator. If your location dot moves off screen, tap the button again to re-center. Learn more about finding your location.
Offline Maps: Pre-save areas before heading out to use the App without cell service or internet connectivity. Learn more about Offline Maps.
My Content: View and edit all of your saved Waypoints, Lines, Tracks, Shapes, and Routes. Export or share Markups with other users. Learn more about managing your content.
Tools: Mark and measure your map with Waypoints, Lines, and Shapes, or build Routes that snap to roads and trails. Learn more about Map Tools.
Trail Cameras: Link your trail cameras to your onX Hunt account and view available info all in one place. Learn more about Trail Cameras.
Go & Track: Record your route of travel in the field and save it for future use or to follow it back out. Learn more about Go & Track.
