If you're getting an error when trying to import a file into the onX Hunt Web Map, or your file uploaded successfully but isn't showing up, this article covers the three most common causes and how to fix them. Import files must be GPX or KML format, 4 MB or less, and contain no more than 3,000 Markups.
"You may only upload a KML or GPX file"
This error means your file is in an unsupported format. To fix this, import your file into Garmin BaseCamp and export it as a GPX file:
- Download Garmin BaseCamp.
- Import your file into BaseCamp.
- Export the file from BaseCamp as a GPX file.
- Upload the GPX file into the onX Hunt Web Map.
"Your file must be under 4 MB"
Your file exceeds the 4 MB import limit. Try one of the following:
- Split your Markups into smaller groups and upload them separately.
- If your file contains a single large Track, split it into smaller segments. Learn how to split a Track in Garmin BaseCamp.
File uploaded successfully but isn't showing on the map or in My Content
Some KML files contain extra data added by Google Earth that isn't compatible with onX. Convert your KML file to GPX and re-upload it:
- Convert your KML file to GPX using the GPS Visualizer file converter.
- Download the converted GPX file and upload it into the onX Hunt Web Map.
