If you're seeing a MapboxGL error in the onX Hunt Web Map, your browser may not support the graphics rendering technology the Web Map requires. This article explains how to check if your browser is compatible and how to fix the issue in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Microsoft Edge.
Check if your browser supports MapboxGL
Visit get.webgl.org/webgl2—if you see a spinning cube, your browser supports MapboxGL. If you don't, try updating your browser to the latest version or follow the browser-specific instructions below.
If you see the spinning cube but still have issues with the Web Map, try the following:
- Clear your browsing history and cache.
- Disable or pause any active VPNs, ad blockers, or other security features, or whitelist webmap.onxmaps.com.
Google Chrome
Enable hardware acceleration:
- Go to chrome://settings in your address bar.
- Click System and turn on Use hardware acceleration when available.
- Click Relaunch.
Mozilla Firefox
- Go to about:config in your address bar.
- Search for webgl.force-enabled and set it to true.
- Search for webgl.disabled and set it to false.
- Search for webgl.enable-webgl2 and set it to true.
- Restart Firefox.
Safari
WebGL is enabled by default in recent versions of Safari. If it's been disabled, follow these steps:
- From the menu bar, click Safari > Settings.
- Select the Websites tab.
- Select WebGL from the list on the left. This option only appears if WebGL has been disabled.
- If webmap.onxmaps.com is listed on the right, set it to Allow. If it's not listed, find When visiting other websites in the lower-right corner and set it to Allow or Ask.
- Restart Safari.
If you're still unable to load the Web Map after the steps above, try enabling WebGL 2.0:
- Open webmap.onxmaps.com.
- From the menu bar, click Safari > Settings.
- Select the Advanced tab and check Show Develop menu in menu bar.
- From the menu bar, click Develop > Experimental Features.
- Enable WebGL 2.0.
- Restart Safari.
Microsoft Edge
- Click the three dots in the upper-right corner and click Settings.
- Click System on the left.
- Turn on Use hardware acceleration when available.
- Click Restart.
